Dear guests !
Welcome, we hope you will have a wonderful weekend or wonderful week.
To make you feel ‘at home’ a little faster, I will give you some extra information about this house. We bought this house in 2012 from a family who (also) had this house as a family holiday home for a long time. Although the house already had charm back then and we immediately fell for it, there was some overdue maintenance to be done. We ultimately opted for a large-scale renovation. We wanted to keep the atmosphere but with much more comfort. We think and hope that this has been successful. In the photo booklet you can see what it was like before the renovation.
Underfloor heating has been installed almost everywhere (except in the bedrooms upstairs in the old part of the house where there are regular radiators). There are 2 thermostats for this: one in the front great room (where the large fireplace is) and one in the kitchen. You can light the fireplace and/or the wood stove; the instructions for use are in the folder. The large fireplace provides the most (dispersed) heat with the window down, but you can also burn it ‘open’. Of course, always close it at night! You can open and close it with the hook in the opening on the right side of the glass. We will prepare an initial amount of wood for you. For extra wood you can ask Caroliene for a fee.
In the kitchen you will find all the supplies you need to cook for a group of people. There are also plenty of bowls, etc. There is an Espresso machine, but that takes some practice for those who do not normally use it. A very important point when using this device is to always check whether there is enough water in the reservoir, otherwise the motor will break. For those who prefer something simpler, there is also a Nespresso and an ‘old-fashioned’ coffee maker in the cupboard. You will also find the instructions for use in the folder for the grill/sandwich maker. The refrigerator has a freezing and cooling section. Although the children will certainly enjoy making ice cream, I ask that you supervise it and handle it with care
The beds are all covered with clean sheets/duvet covers. To keep the mattresses clean for a long time, protective covers have been placed around all beds; These are without plastic, but that does mean that IF you get wet without delay due to bedwetting or the like. I ask you to immediately remove the sheets and the protective cover and put a new one on it. A spare bed set was left in the upstairs closet (master bedroom) left. Please inform Caroliene the next day so that she can ensure that a clean spare cover is replaced. When you leave, please remove the covers and covers from the bed (protective covers only if necessary) and leave them on the bed.
The showers have two heads; when you turn the tap down, the smaller shower turns on; up the big one. It takes some searching in the downstairs shower to really turn off the tap. If it continues to leak, the tap is not turned off exactly in the middle. But if you ‘move’ it a little in the middle, the tap is really off. If this bathroom is not used, the water level may be too low and it may smell a bit. This was resolved by briefly opening the tap. The fans in the showers continue to work for a while when you turn off the lights.
Towels are ready for you (2 pp), these are for use IN the house only, not on the beach!!
We have WiFi in this house. You will need the following code (password): fijnevakantie
There is also a Sonos box; If you also have a Sonos connection, you can download your Sonos app on your smartphone and use it to operate the Sonos. If you also have a Spotify subscription, you can also listen to your own music. If you do not have a subscription, you can only listen to the radio via Sonos.
PLEASE THINK OF OUR NEIGHBORS IN TERMS OF NOISE!
High chair is ready. Camping bed is upstairs. Return it folded after use!!
The microwave is connected to the light in terms of power and only works when the light in the kitchen is on… (construction error!!) Before using the oven, please use baking paper if possible so that it is easy to clean.
Garbage

Beach cabin: You can use the beach cabin (free of charge) (only available from the beginning of May to September 15). The beach house is located at the beach bar “de Zeeuwsche Riviera; If you go down the stairs on the dune, you will see the cabin immediately to the right next to the Zeeland Riviera ( Adriaanse: cabin no. 21; you can ask the manager for the key and do not forget to return it to her at departure.
Garden cushions and parasols can be found in the garage and/or in the utility room. You can also use the BBQ, but please leave it on the terrace and not on the grass.
SAUNA You can use the sauna; The sauna is wood-fired and it takes about an hour and a half before the desired temperature of 90 degrees is reached. For hygiene reasons, please shower beforehand. I would also like to point out that you read and observe the sauna rules carefully (for your own safety)! When you have finished using it, please close the drawer completely. There is a shower outside! (cold only!!)
There is a bakery and a (great) butcher (Wisse) in Meliskerke. There is also a very small supermarket in Meliskerke, but you can find larger supermarkets either in Zoutelande (Jumbo) or go to Middelburg (AH, Lidl).
DEPARTURE:
When you leave, I kindly ask you to leave the house tidy and ‘sweeping clean’; i.e. dishes done and garbage bagged at shed. Before departure, please contact our manager (Caroliene: 0031 6 42977102) of the house opposite us at Mariekerke no. 10. If necessary, please contact her. report defects, etc. and return the keys, etc. (including those to the beach house!).
We have tried to make the house as safe as possible; the ‘bridge’ always remains dangerous for small children … The stairs are old and beautifully worn, but also a bit slippery …So pay close attention!!
LAST BUT NOT LEAST, our neighbors live very close and can therefore be bothered by your noise and music. Could you please take that into account and not turn up the music too loud?
Finally, I wish you a wonderful and pleasant time.
Sincerely, Marc and Karien
